Weekly Letter #2 - Built with Django, Newline Course, Paid Newsletters
Happy Wednesday!
This is the second issue of my personal newsletter. I was planning to send this yesterday. I even thought of a name I am pretty happy about. Unfortunately, my mind got distracted by work and a couple of other things, so I could not send the second issue of "Tuesday Letter". Making a promise to you and myself that I will send the third version of the Tuesday Letter on Tuesday next week!
What do you think of the name?
Also, if you have a minute, could you share a sentence or two about the last issue you received a week ago?
That's it. Hope you enjoy this week's "Tuesday Letter" :)
🛠️This Week's Projects
Built with Django
- Last week on Thursday recorded an interview with Cody from Armory Gaming Gear.
- Recorder intro for the first interview and an actual intro episode.
- Otherwise, the rest of the goals are the same.
- Asked HN community what was their Django project and got an insane response. Got to #1 on Ask HN page.
Course
I got contacted by Nate from Newline about a potential course on Django. I am currently working on an Outline for "Build a SaaS app with Django". Very exciting.
If you have any suggestions as to what should be covered in the course, shoot me an email.
Personal Website
- Working on a Digital Garden.
📜 This Week's Quote from my Readwise
Ultimately, it comes down to the following five decisions: > 1. Don't confuse what you wish were true with what is really true. > 2. Don't worry about looking good—worry instead about achieving your goals. > 3. Don't overweight first-order consequences relative to second- and third-order ones. > 4. Don't let pain stand in the way of progress. > 5. Don't blame bad outcomes on anyone but yourself.

😃 Person of the Week (Rasul Edition)
I found Rocio through her post on Django ORMs. This post was published on May third. This was actually her first post, so her site is pretty new. Since then, she posted a few other Django related posts. Very well written.
Her areas of expertise are Python, Django, Vue.js, and AWS.

💻 This Week's Podcasts I Enjoyed
#63 with Andrew Wilkinson - Buying cash-flowing internet companies, starting job boards and building no code projects
- Andrew requires his CEOs to only send financials once a month and swat analysis every quarter. This increases trust and lowers time consumed in running companies.
- Book Recommendation: Principles and EMyth for delegation and system of offloading tasks.
- Job boards are great business for niche, high engaging communities.
- For making a profitable podcast, do the following:
- Monthly ama (20-30 questions)
- Extended interview from a Titan. First half free, Second for paid users.
- For someone cool ask 5-10 questions like "Best book in the last year", or "Daily Habit no one knows about" and show results in private feeds only.
My First Million: Q&A with Andrew Wilkinson, Co-founder of Tiny
- Reading / Listening recommendation: read and listen to Warren Buffett's and Charlie Munger's writings and speeches. They cover everything on how to invest and run a business.
